 Become a Literacy Connection Volunteer Tutor in this 12 hour training workshop. Help to make a change in someone's life and become a Volunteer Literacy Tutor! The Literacy Connection has over 70 adult learners in our community waiting to be matched with a tutor like you! Would you like to help? Our Tutors help other adults with their English literacy skills, at a time and place convenient for both tutor and learner. NO PRIOR TEACHING OR TUTORING EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED! We'll train and guide you through the tutoring process. Join us at one of our upcoming Tutor Orientations to learn more! Must be at least 18 years old.

Course Structure

This is an instructor-led, 12-hour course, with some online and out of classroom assignments. Online options are available to complete missed material, if necessary. Tutor trainees participate in discussion, role playing and interactive activities as they learn strategies and background information necessary to tutor adults.

Course Materials and Cost

Tutor training is free, but there is a $35 fee to cover the textbook and other handouts. Cash or a check made payable to The Literacy Connection is collected at the end of the first course meeting.
