This is the monthly meeting of the Elgin Genealogical Society where Kimberly Nagy will present “Dropsy, Quinsy, or Consumption: Just exactly what did my ancestor have?” Have you even wondered what some of the medical terms found on old documents really mean? What are the modern terms for those diseases? Were our ancestor’s ailments treatable; contagious or was there an epidemic? Dr. Kimberly Nagy will discuss several commonly used terms for medical ailments. ----- Kimberly Nagy, MD PLCGS has been researching her ancestry for over forty years. Much of her experience predates the internet and she loves the smell of old books in libraries, courthouses, and archives. Now retired from her career as a Trauma Surgeon, she devotes all of her time to genealogy. She has extensive experience with Lineage Society applications and loves to lecture- both are reflected in her work as a professional genealogist.
