Date: 6/24/2018
Start Time: 2:30 PM

Dairies to Prairies is a feature-length documentary film and companion traveling exhibit telling a nearly forgotten story about Elgin's first wealth, the dairy industry, and how land use and agriculture are changing rapidly in Kane County. Did you know that Elgin once set the national price for butter through the Elgin Board of Trade? Or that the Gail Borden Public Library was named after the inventor of condensed milk? Or how many acres of forest preserves and restored prairies are managed by the Kane County Forest Preserves? The Dairies to Prairies project will premiere at the Gail Borden Public Library. This documentary film and traveling exhibit is created by The Elgin History Museum and Grindstone Productions. Please register.
